 ACCEPTED VESTRY MEETING MINUTES

 MARCH 15, 2005

 In Attendance:

Canon Shallcross, Meta Cadugan, Maggie Werner, Sally West, Jenny Wager, Sara Cardinale, Rob Parker, Joan E. Brown

Opening Devotions:

Canon Shallcross led the devotions with several passages from Corinthians and a short article regarding the unseen help we receive each day.  

 Minutes of the last meeting were accepted as presented.

 Correspondence:       

A letter from Mark Tillotson regarding the desire to improve communication at St. Margaret’s.

A letter from Andy Holton and Patti Pyle with new membership ideas following the Annual Meeting.

 Old Business:

New Mission Statement

After several minutes of brainstorming ideas, the following statements will be presented to the parish to vote on their favorite:

“Living with Christ at St. Margaret’s”

“St. Margaret’s:  Talents and Treasures for Christ”

“St. Margaret’s:  Loving, Growing, and Sharing the Gospel (Good News)”

“Emmaus:  Where we find God and Each Other”

 Addressing Vestry Plans

The New Membership Committee will be meeting on March 22 to focus on increasing membership.  Canon Shallcross will call the first meeting of the Communication Committee to focus on improving parish communication.  A Stewardship Workshop will be held on April 14 for interested members to build on stewardship education.  Joan E. Brown, Sara Cardinale and Rob Parker will be attending the Diocesan Training Day March 19, 2005.  Van sale discussed with the desire to sell before insurance payment due.

 Mutual Ministries Review Committee Report

No Report

Aspirants: Tom Beightol and Christina Nord

Canon Shallcross notified the Vestry that both Tom and Christina are close to needing formal Vestry interviews.

Rescheduled Visit with the Archdeacon and Controller

No Report

 New Business:

The Parish Hall Meeting on March 6, 2005 resulted with the following:

·        Meeting needed of Communication Committee

·        Interest expressed in starting an Excursion Club

·        Annual Report on the Website – noted that NO Finances needed for website

·        Other fund raisers discussed

·        Seven word mission statement challenge from diocese

 

Reports on Standing Committees:

Committee liaison changes were made to incorporate the two new Vestry members, Joan Brown and Rob Parker.  Only the changes recorded in minutes.

Altar Guild - Easter preparation to take center stage in following week

Building and Grounds – Maggie Werner in the very early stages of obtaining quotes for lighting in the church.  Quotations also being sought for work on the main entrance doorway. 

Inreach – Canon Shallcross noted what a wonderful job Inreach had done for the reception on Saturday, March 12th.

Christian Education-lack of attendance to be the main concern in coming months.                 

 Next Meeting:  Tuesday, April 19th at 7:00 PM -  Meta Cadugan, Chaplin
