Film Friends

St. Margaret's "Film Friends" meet once a month at the home of one of the participants. Each month there is an open invitation to anyone who loves films, food and fellowship, to come and participate.

OUR MISSION: To discover spirituality through film. This interesting group of "friends" meets once a month at the home of a brave participant. The group is about films, food, and fellowship. This is our time to share opinions and ideas, and WOW! We do! The movies we viewed in 2005 were: To Kill A Mockingbird, The Man Who Would Be King, Ray, Benny and Joon, The Village, Amadeus, Saved, and The Merchant of Venice. Together, we went to the 19th Street Theatre to see the film, Hotel Rwanda. At every gathering, we cook up some delicious food, watch interesting movies, and get caught up in some thought provoking dialogue. We have learned that movies are a great form of entertainment and education in daily spiritual life. We have fun and we learn about each other and ourselves.

The movies we viewed in the year 2003 were: That Dreams May Come, My First Mister, The Big Chill, Heart and Soul, The Emperor's Club, Jesus Christ-Superstar, Bowling For Columbine, and Life of Brian. All of these films have provoked very interesting discussion enabling us to learn something new about ourselves and each other. We share our views about many social and spiritual issues. Our discussions have helped us grow together in faith and friendship.

The movies we have viewed in 2004, have been: Dogma, The Big Fish, The Passion of Christ, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Remembering the Titans, and A Beautiful Mind.

We look forward to many months of great film watching, creative thought, downright excellent cooking, and meaningful social and spiritual dialogue.
