2005 Annual Report

As we begin 2006, we would like to take some time to reflect on how the Renewal & Evangelism Committee has strived to fulfill its mission in 2005.  During the past year, the committee was involved in several projects toward this end.  They included sending several members to the diocesan ministry training day in March in order to bring back new ideas to energize both the committee and the parish.  One of the new ideas that came from this training day was the formation of the Membership Incubator, now ably facilitated by Sara Cardinale.  Thank you, Sara!  The formation of the incubator has allowed the Renewal & Evangelism committee to narrow our focus to examining the spiritual aspects of parish renewal and evangelism.

With the help of other parish ministries, the group has participated in or sponsored many events which have served St. Margaret’s well in getting our name and mission out into the public view in the community.  These events have included the tables at the Emmaus Farmer’s Market, the food stand (and bathrooms) for the Emmaus Halloween Parade, the Peach Festival, and the Heritage Day ice cream float stand, which this year expanded to include fun, safe, and free activities for the children of the community.  In November, the group created an advent Calendar of Thanksgivings that was published in the parish newsletter.  We hope to share the ideas that did not fit on the calendar with all of you as the year progresses.

Looking forward to the rest of 2006, the group hopes to continue working on some of the ideas that we have considered in the past.  The possibilities include quiet days or other retreats and a devotional book written by and for parish members (currently planned for late spring or early summer of 2006).  We look forward to your ideas and submissions.  The Renewal & Evangelism committee is always open to ideas from the parish of ways that we can aid in fostering spiritual growth in the parish and the wider community that we serve.  Current committee members include:

Tom Beightol, Arlene Belanger, Joan Brown, Jennifer Burkhardt, the Rev. Betsy Diely, Pat Gersbach, Alice Luetzel, Tara & Bill Paletski, Sue Schaffner, and Mark Tillotson.

We hope to be able to add your name to the list next year.  Please join us.

Respectfully submitted,

Sue Schaffner, Chair
