Church School

Church School (Fall, Winter, Spring)
St. Margaret's Church School uses many sources to help spiritual development. First among our resources are our teachers. Church School meets Sunday mornings from September through June. Church School begins at 9:00 am and ends at 10:00 am. For our younger folks, we use the "Catechesis of the Good Shepherd," a Christian Education program that offers spiritual direction. CLICK HERE to learn more about it. After Church School, children are invited to attend the 10:15 worship service with their families. Younger members will be cared for in the nursery.

Church School Christmas Pageant
The Church School will present a pageant for Christmas Eve. Rehearsals will be during Church School time Sunday mornings from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. If a dress rehearsal is necessary one may be announced. The teachers are looking for help. Please speak to them if you can help with scenery, costumes, refreshments, etc.

Church School Outline

Five things to know:

  1. We will start promptly at 9:00 am with prayer.
  2. We will end promptly at 10:00 am, closing with prayer.
  3. Very light snacks are a standard part of this 9-10:00 hour.
  4. Watch for papers, craft items or handwork most weeks.
  5. If you wish to bring some special snack for the class to mark your child’s birthday, please notify the teachers a week in advance. Please do not include nuts in the recipe.

Safety – Important

Remember to note on the student registration form your child’s allergies, especially peanuts/nuts or bee stings. Note allergy to penicillin or other drugs, please.

We must have an emergency contact name and number if you expect to not be in the church building during your child’s program. Medical emergencies will be handled in accordance with standard emergency treatment guidelines; however, every effort will be made to contact you or your emergency number before proceeding to obtain further medical treatment.

Overview

ATRIUM is for preschoolers.

Is there anything you want to share about your child that will help us encourage your child to participate and enjoy this year’s program?

ELEMENTARY AGE is for children in grades 1 through 4.

Please read, enjoy and share your child’s pride in the papers he or she may bring home! Please look up with them, in the Bible, the verse they learn each week. We will anticipate that, with your support, your child will not bring toys, games or books to this class.

EARLY TEEN is for ages 10 through 13.

This age is when children are encouraged to make more independently the connection between faith and events in their lives. Clearly we don’t expect toys and outside books, etc. in this class. Please encourage your child to participate in the limited events that we plan to help them bridge into becoming full teenagers. We’ll notify you before each extra activity. Attendance for this group is especially important, as they learn to become a support to each other.

TEENS is for ages 14 and up and is also known as the Confirmation Class.

This group will continue to form a community among themselves. Please support them in their search as teens to make this one of the relevant experiences of their teenage years.

ADULT ED is for people over 18.

Please bring to the attention of Canon Shallcross topics or issues you would like to discuss or get information about during Adult Forum.

FAITH is contagious!

Children come to Church School, imitating the adults they see there. St. Margaret’s Church Community needs all of us, together, all Children of God, a Church Family worshiping and learning together.
