The Founding of the EpiscoPals
A group of men met in the kitchen of St. Margaret's at 8:30 am on Saturday, March 28, 1992. Those in attendance were: Jack Shannon, William Roberts, Art Schelling, Tom Underwood, Paul Diely, Will Shafer, Elloida Benner, Dave Hornung and Gil Peterson.
The name Episco 'Pals' was suggested by Paul Diely. It was suggested that they meet on the last Saturday of the month, but since some months have more Saturdays than others, the fourth Saturday was designated as the official meeting day.
This was to be a loose organization with no particular slate of officers. It was further established that membership would consist of any male member of St. Margaret's Church or a man recommended by a current member.
The motto of the EpiscoPals is:
Wise Men Still Seek Him
The EpiscoPals is a men's fellowship that meets monthly for mutual encouragement and discussions concerning the Church and current events. The group has conducted a number of flea markets with proceeds eventually going to purchase a water fountain for the Parish Hall. Money was also collected to be used for a scholarship at St. Margaret's Nursery School. The group was asked to maintain the Memorial Garden and has participated in many other projects around the church.
If you have any other history about the EpiscoPals that you would like to share, please contact Gil Peterson or Mark Tillotson.
